After an evening of training colts and barrel horses at the Williston
Horseman's Arena! It was very sweet and a great way to wrap up one year
and start another.
7-01-10 ~ 4 year Anniversary for Mandy & Rex
12-31-10 ~ Rex & Mandy share a year anniversary on being engaged and look forward to getting married in 2011.
Working together since 2006. Mandy
Mascroft & Rex Amos are doing business as MR Performance Horses and hope to
bring a lot of positive experiences to the Equine Industry in the southeast and
nationwide! Currently MR Performance Horses is located six miles west of the interstate 75 on Highway 40. Training their horses and client horses out
of McDuffee Quarter Horses. Mandy & Rex are looking to buy property in the near future.
Middle of March
2010- Rex & Mandy sold their Cherokee Invasion that was a 3 horse with a
dressing room. They upgraded to a 4 horse Featherlite. The new
trailer has a dressing room with an AC unit, Mid Tack Room, Mangers, and a Rear
tack room. Were very
excited to have this new trailer! It will allow us to haul more horses to
shows, practice pens, and get those training colts the exposure that they
need. If you need a horse hauled to a show, or picked up from somewhere,
please call. We are not commercial haulers, but often have rides
available to surrounding states/shows on a regular basis.
Rex keeps busy at the farm, McDuffee Quarter Horses, as well as on the road
with Don at horse shows, training horses with Mandy, and campaigning the barrel
horses locally and regionally. Mandy is very active in the race horse & barrel horse world making them a great pair for all your horse needs. Together Rex & Mandy have so many
connections to find someone their perfect horse. Rex & Mandy are always getting
calls needing to find that special horse for someone, and if we don't have it
we get in touch with someone who does! We have an amazing amount of
personal and professional contacts used to locate horses not just sell
them. Please keep that in mind when you are looking for your next horse
or prospect.

Where to begin? Mandy broke her first
horse when she was ten years old. Her mom had picked up a little grade
Appaloosa mare that was green broke, her name was Cherokee. Mandy trained
that mare and used her to compete in team penning, speed shows, barrel racing,
and so much more! She won numerous pay checks, trophies, and belt
buckles. When she was too busy competing on other horses Cherokee was
used by her sisters and brother and has continued to win with ANYONE put on her
back. It was in those years Mandy developed her passion for horse, but
maybe she was born with it.
Throughout school Mandy worked at a local tack/feed
store, was breaking outside horses, and fixing problem horses on the
side. She competed in Team Penning, Barrel Racing, Rodeos, and AQHA
Shows. After high school she took a job in Saratoga at another store and from then she
was introduced to the world of Race Horses. Starting at Stone Bridge
farm in the spring of 2005 as a groom and exercise rider then relocating to Ocala in September of
2005. It was there she began the Thoroughbred breaking season working for
Jimmy Miranda, owner of Rapid Run Farm. For three more years she
sharpened her skills and learned about prepping the sales horses as yearlings
and two year old in training.
Mandy started working at Glen Hill Farm in October of 2008. Glen Hill is a 400 Acre Thoroughbred Farm in Marion County.
They are a Breeding & Racing operation that has about 25 broodmares and the
horse population is usually around 100 head. She breaks the yearlings and
then starts them galloping at the race track. Training them to breeze
before they ship to the race track. Picture shown is Mandy galloping East
Lake Shorebefore she shipped to the Race Track.
In the beginning of 2010 Mandy was injured when a horse fell on her and the stirrup twisted on her foot, shattering it. She was on "stall rest" for a full month after her extensive surgery and on crutches for three full months. Mandy got back to riding in June just to have another surgery the end of July to remove all the hardware in her foot. Not expected to be back riding until late August, and returning to riding race horses in October
In the afternoons Mandy stays busy
galloping/breezing race horses, and breaking horses for all disciplines
including pleasure, hunt seat, reining, polo and more! She used to free
lance ride horses in the afternoon, but has chosen to eliminate the travel and
train from the farm. Please check the training page for current rates.
June 2010~ Mandy back in the saddle after nearly six months off! She sadly had
to take the 1st half of 2010 off from training when a horse fell on her while
riding and shattered her foot. Here she is riding Hewillfrostyourglass
"Ed" getting him ready for the Futurities
July 31st 2010- Surgery to have the hardware in her foot removed. Layed up for another 45 days!
September 11th- Mandy borrows High Dashin, a Dash Ta Fame son, to win a check her first time running him, at the Deb Mohon Memorial Barrel Race in Big Sandy, Texas & also placed 1D 3rd that same day in Terrel, TX out of near 300 riders. September 12th- TX NBHA won 1D 1st! Winning almost $650 for the weekend!
October 2010 - Mandy is back to work riding race horses at Glen Hill Farm. Working full time there, while breaking & training barrel horses at the McDuffee Quarter Horses where she resides.
One of her favorite ways to pass the time is
interacting with Barrel racing horses. She has always trained her own horses
and continues to do so, as well as welcoming outside horses too. She has
competed successfully in NBHA, AQHA open shows, jackpots and rodeos and looks
forward to getting more active in the Futurity Scene. Her first experience with
the futurities was December of 2007 with Firewaters Fast Cash, placing 1D Top 10 in both of his Juvenile Futurities! From there she
took him to a few more futurities and really enjoyed it. He was the first
colt she raised and trained specifically for barrels and knows there is many
more to come. Be sure to check back for updates on MR Performance Horses next Futurity
Prospects!
